Universally Accessible Playground

The Corona Partners for Parks is working with Jeffrey's Hope to raise funds for the first — and only — universally accessible playground here in the City of Corona. Jeffrey is a child who lives in Corona, and is the inspiration behind this effort.

The Universal Playground: A Place Where Everyone Plays. What is a Universally Accessible Playground?
A universally accessible playground provides various activities and facilities that promote a higher level of inclusive play. So regardless of abilities or age, families can play together. This type of playground promotes sensory-stimulating play for children, and adults, of all ages and developmental stages. This universally accessible playground will have a specific area geared towards 2 to 5 year olds and another for 5 to 12 year olds.

What is Our Goal?
The Corona Partners for Parks Foundation is working to raise $200,000 to build this universally accessible playground at Jameson Park in Corona. Our goal is to begin construction in the first quarter of 2016. So far, the foundation has raised over $54,000 through generous donations made by the Carter Lay Charitable Fund, Coast Recreation, Woman's Improvement Club of Corona, Corona General Employees Association (CGEA), Corona Supervisors Association (CSA), Corona Fire Association (CFA), and Corona Police Officers Association (CPOA).

How Can You Help?
It takes a lot of support from the community to build a park – and this one is no exception. To get involved with the universally accessible playground, or to become a foundation member, please contact Kevin Button at coronapartnersforparks@gmail.com.
